Hi
I was just on the phone to get the assessment notes sent out and I asked them about the comment on the decision, I was then passed through to a case handler and he went through it and it’s an assumption that the assessor made. He has sent it back to be looked at again as he says ‘there’s no proof that this is the case’ (in his words) and I don’t need to do anything else. I’m surprised how helpful they’ve been to be honest, I’m just waiting for the kicker!

There are good people at the DWP, although I am not sure that they last very long in the job

That’s a real shame that they won’t last long. Everyone has been friendly and I’d even go so far as to say helpful. The problem is, it makes you think that there’s a rabbit off somewhere!

I am now in receipt of the assessment notes. The assumptions they have made are ridiculous and the contradictions are too. The way it reads is that if you’re not a gibbering wreck then there’s nothing wrong with you. I apparently wasn’t in pain - but nobody asked. In truth I was dosed up to the eyeballs.
Then at the end it says do they think I should be contacted again to reassess or were my problems likely not to have changed and she said 3 years but only because my conditions may have worsened - no, if you had been truthful on this assessment, you’d know I have those needs now.
I really don’t know what to do now because I said I wasn’t submitting any more medical evidence as they already had it but should I still put in writing my thoughts on the assessment or should I not rock the boat, when the man I spoke to the other day was agreeing with me for there being no evidence for the higher rate mobility to be withdrawn?
Thanks
Nicola

If you think that there are serious errors in the report then I would definitely detail these to the DWP, I would also consider making a complaint to the Assessment Provider, but be aware, whilst unlikely it could lead to a new assessment and there is, as you identified a risk of undermining the award you have so you need to balance this against the extra points you might score.
If you can stick to matter of fact, if you do want to challenge the assessors opinions then you need to do it by reference to your evidence.
