ESA SUCCESS SUPPORT GROUP - INFO PLEASE was created by Ness46
Hi Gordon.
I am delighted to say I have now received my decision letter and have been put in the support group.
I have a couple of questions though:
a. Do I still need to provide a drs certificate, as their is no mention of this in the letter.
b. There is no mention of how long I will be awarded this. Is it just until they decided to reasses? If so, how long is this usually? I have a progressive condition, so I will only get worse, unfortunately.
I am going to inform PIP about my change in condition, as I am only on standard mobility, which I should be on enhanced. I was awarded nothing for daily living element which, again, I disagree with. Do you have any suggestions how I should approach this? I was eventually awarded PIP on 31.8.17 following a mandatory reconsideration request so I guess I will have to be reassessed?
Thanks for any help.

Congratulations on the award, well done.
1. You don't need to send Fit Notes any more.
2. ESA is an indefinite award with regular reassessment, if you contact the DWP office dealing with your claim they should be able to tell you when you are likely to be reassessed, reassessment periods can be anywhere from 3 months to three years.
Unless your ESA assessment report specifically states an assessed walking distance of less than 20m then your SG award will add little to your PIP award and you would need other evidence to support your receiving a higher Mobility award. Be aware that reporting a Change to the PIP department will result in a new PIP2 being issued and almost certainly a new face to face, any Decision will supersede your existing award.

Thanks Gordon.
It states " .......she has severe disability as a result of MS......she has weakness and spastiticty in her legs and is unable to walk a few metres before having to stop because of weakness and pain down both legs....... she is able to walk short distances into buildings from car parks only, but there is no evidence she walks more than this......
Is that statement adequate, or not specific enough? I really believe I should have received enhanced first time round, and my condition has declined further.
Is it worth it, or a risk I shouldn't take?

It's actually a good statement, I think it diminishes the risk to your current award but I'm not sure on it's own that it is enough for the Enhanced, remember if you are only scoring for Moving Around you need to show that you cannot reliably walk more than 20m on the majority of days.
Is there anything that counters what the ESA report says, do you go shopping for example?
Do you spend time in your garden?
An assessor will be looking for you to have problems with moving around your home, is this the case and can you give examples? How far is your toilet from where you normally sit?

Thanks Gordon. I understand your thoughts, but hubby does grocery shop every Sat, downstairs loo approx 9 meters away and no more than 10. Generally, its a small home. Used to do gardening, but cant even do pots now. I hold on to furniture or use my stick around house to balance myself. Sit down when peeling veg and get hubby or son to put heavy pans in oven.
My MS nurse done a letter about my change in condition which I sent to DWP as part of ESA application and before assessment. If I do ask them to reassess my PIP application I would enclose that letter again and ESA report, together with original evidence provided last year.
I will give it some further thought though, as I don't want to jeopardise the little payment I currently get. There have been changes physically in my arms now, so I would also state this, which effects daily living element.
Any further thought grateful and thanks so much as always.

If you do decide to report a Change then do it in writing and if you can afford it, then send it using a tracked post so that you have proof of delivery. Your letter should be used to set the start date of any new award.
Treat the new form as a new claim and complete it in detail and send any relevant evidence even if you have sent it before.
