PIP appeal still not heard 13 months later was created by Robinson_jon
Hi

A family member was previously on the higher rate of PIP (DL & Mob). Their award was reassessed in February 2017, and they lost the mobility element.

They followed the MandRec and appeals process properly, but are still waiting for an appeal date at the tribunal. It has been 13 months now.

I understand that the appeal process can be long, but I believed it to be c.6 months. A DWP manager has acknowledged our complaints, however between the DWP and Tribunal Service, nobody knows what is going on!

Are you aware of any advocacy/support services in Birmingham that can put pressure on the DWP & Tribunals Service, as the gentleman has been without a mobility vehicle for a year now, and his condition has markedly deteriorated!

Many thanks

Contact the Tribunal venue for their appeal they should be able to tell you current waiting times.

Unless your family member can get their appeal classed as urgent due to financial loss, then I think it unlikely that they will get their appeal prioritised.

Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with their postcode, town or county.
