I have had a thought about PIP and its relationship with the claimants’ ages. My wife is 68 and coming across from DLA. I believe that the main purpose of PIP’s inception was to remove the aged from disability benefit schemes on the “unsaid” principle that their problems are most likely to be due to (and certainly increased by) their age alone. Hence the reason that the DWP are fighting my wife’s claim all the way. ARE THERE ANY STATISTICS ON THIS?
Also, Following my complaints to ATOS about their report/assessment and following their own investigation by Independent Assessment Services (which is ATOS now) which absolved themselves of all wrong doing (of course!!!), I complained to the ICE - Independent Case Examiner - on the basis that the conclusions arrived from the inept assessment overriding all of my wife’s medical history by totally negating it were WEDNESBURY UNREASONABLE as was the DWP’s decision to rely on it.
I got a phone call within days of sending in my complaint to ICE confirming some relevant facts and stating that they would be contacting me within two weeks. Efficient if nothing else!
