Can you help please. I got a 3 year award of PIP due to end Jan 19 but I got the review form in Feb 18. I completed the form. Today I got an appointment for a home visit (which I didn’t ask for) should I be concerned about this ? Can you advise me how to prepare for a home visit. Would appreciate any help thank you Jennie

A home assessment is simply a reflection of the Assessment Provider believing that your conditions are serious enough to warrant one.

A home assessment is not significantly different from one conducted in the AP's offices, you can choose where the interview is held and as a visitor, the assessor has no more right to look around your home than anybody else. Try and have someone with you if you can.

The PIP Claim guide has a section that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

You say you can choose we're in your home the visit takes place, and the assessor cannot look round your home? I have just got letter for home visit in a few days time, 10/12 am. I am concerned I may not be well enough to even get out of bed let alone be dressed and ready( part of my condition) I don't want to get involved in having to cancel or change it. My husband is home with me all the time. Hads anyone been in the situation were they have had to have the home assessment in their bedroom? Would it be frowned upon, or should my hubby just get me up when they arrive, and I stay in my pjs, ( will need go back to bed as soon as assesor leaves anyway) thanks

Don't change your routine for the assessor, if you are not up to getting up then don't, this is an assessment of how you usually are, it won't be frowned upon!

I attended a home assessment with a friend of mine, She was unable to leave her bed at the time of the assessment so I was there to open the door for the HCP and witness the assessment in her bedroom. As long as you are comfortable then it is perfectly acceptable. You should also take your meds as prescribed, on time, no more and no less
