PIP home assessment help was created by K123
Hello,
I have an assessment at home on Thursday (Capita) and I’m really nervous that they will try and confuse me or use my words against me.
In the PIP guide from this site (which has been so helpful to me) I read something that concerned me though and wondered if so,done could please explain to me?
It said that assessors use computer software called PIPAT that not only guides them through the assessment but means they have all information on the claimant in front of them including their claim form, medical letters and information that the claimant supplied. However, it says that this software ISN’T available for assessors to use for home assessment?? Surely the claimant is then at a disadvantage as the assessor doesn’t have all their information to hand?? Also, what if the assessor just then goes more on the claimants appearance or doesn’t note things down properly etc?
If this is the case then should I make sure I have my copies of the form I sent available for the assessor to look at?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

The assessment report is produced in two parts, first the claimant is interviewed, this may include a very basic physical examination, then after the claimant has left or in this case the assessor has left you, they will complete the second part of the report with their recommendations.
So what I am saying is that although they might not have your form with them on the day and I am not convinced that this is the case anyway, they should have read it before they attend at your house and they will read it after the interview when they are writing up the report.
If you want to have a copy of the report available then feel free to do so but don't be surprised if they are not interested in taking it.

Hi K
As you are having Capita be aware that they sometimes arrive early or don't arrive at all but claim that you were not there. If the assessor is not there by the appointed time you should ring capita to confirm that you are at home
