Information For GP? was created by Spectralis
How much information about how my illness effects my daily living should I give my GP? I'm really confused about whether I can give my GP a copy of my assessment form where I have explained in detail how my illness affects me or whether that is against the rules.
I've downloaded the PIP GP descriptor questionnaire but how can my GP answer it if I haven't already provided such detailed information? There is only a limited amount of time that my GP can spend with me so unless I provide this information in written form I don't see how I can relay it verbally during one appointment.
I've discussed my illness with my GP over the years but it's usually about the medication, ongoing symptoms or further support needs. My GP is very supportive and has written letters on my behalf but I worry about overloading my GP with too much information especially if doing that compromises my claim for PIP/ESA.
What is the correct way to inform my GP about how my illness effects my daily life?

I think this is a conversation you need to have with your GP, they may be happy with a copy of your form, they may want to ask you questions about your limitations and I'm afraid they may also be unwilling to provide you with support.

Thanks Gordon! I was more concerned about the type of information I give my GP in case the DWP claimed this biased any medical judgement. I seem to remember that the DWP can request any information my GP has about me, including information I have provided.

My apologies for posting twice but I've just found the thread from over a year ago where you explained all this to me before. I've now made it a favorite in case I forget again.
