DLA to PIP Enquiry was created by dyanb
Hi, My son has been on DLA most of his life due to his disabilities and has recently been asked to transfer from DLA to PIP. I have completed the form with help from your guides and the form was sent in over a month ago. After not hearing anything, I contacted them to ask of the progress as my son has the possibility of a supported living placement in the next few weeks and they need to be sure of his benefits to arrange support and care. I was told by DWP that the claim has been sent to capita and asked me to call them for an update. When I called I was told Capita have decided to do a paper based assessment and if I havent heard anything in 8 weeks I should contact them again. This means my son could move into supported living, and giving the way they are cutting claims down, he could lose his benefits and lose care. I am not sure what to do know. Any advice? Are paper based assessments by capita likely to be bad?
Best wishes

If Capita are doing a Paper Based Review then I would be surprised if they did not recommend an award although that does not mean that he will receive the award that you may think he deserves.
I would expect a PBR to be done a lot quicker than the 8 weeks that Capita have mentioned unless they are waiting for feedback from his doctors.
A Decision would be another 2-4 weeks.
Don't be afraid to chase them again.

Thank you Gordon. I was just expecting to hear within 4/6 weeks as I have seen on the news the wait time was about this long as the government had cit the wait time down.
Thank you
