DLA to zero PIP award after home assessment was created by Mark
I hope this may be of help to those in my position. I was on DLA Higher care and Low mobility. i was awarded 10 points in total for both care and mobility therefore I was awarded 0 award. I had a home assessment and had the first two appointments cancelled.
She was very nice and only entered the living room and did not ask to see anywhere else. Very chatty and I I think i allowed myself to get into a state of mind. a false sense of security almost. Big mistake. I think the form was OK but I fell that it was the home assessment were it all went wrong. She was a nurse and constantly stated on report that I did not look anxious or nervous throughout the interview. Comments like he took a drink of water out of a bottle, he passed papers over which was, ID. Also that I looked her in the eye. I could go on but I wanted to ask people to be aware not to make the same mistakes I did. It is all in the Benefits and Works book but like me ignore on the day at your peril. I concentrated on form not assessment as I had 16 consultants letters and other evidence for an condition that there is no more that consultant can do.
I asked for the report on the assessment and as usual there were glaring inaccuracies and I have complained to IAS but I am probably wasting my time..
The worst of it as well as losing DLA money we have lost carers allowance for me and disability premiums as my wife is disabled and it affect s our pension credit. if they dont get you one way they get you both ways. Please take all the advice you can get but use it wisely. weigh up every word you say to them and every action you make.
I have asked for my mandatory reconsideration so we will see what happens .
Good luck to all going through this. I wish you well. i will update on result when it eventually comes.

Do you think it could be that they queries you getting carer's for your wife perhaps and also claiming PIP? as I have heard that can be a problem. Just a thought.
