Hello wonder if you can help me at present I am on esa and dla I’ve been put in the support group I have a motor neurone symptom with my lower part of my legs and also foot drop in both feet.but there could be a job opportunity for me.what is the best way of coming off the esa benefit it will be over 16 hours work and also I have a car through the motorbility scheme would it be possible to still have the car because I would need it if this job opportunity goes ahead.or is it hard to come out of the support job. Been in the support group since 2012 with my disability please could you advise has I am nervous but excited in the best way in doing this thank you peter diamond.

Just notify the DWP the day before you start work that you wish to close your claim and that you are doing so because you are starting work. I would do it in writing but also phone the DWP office dealing with your claim.
There is no specific requirement for you to tell the PIP department that you are starting work, it may disadvantage you if you do not tell them and they decide that your being able to work is due to an improvement in your conditions.
