Carers element of UC was created by Lisa
My Youngest son who still lives at home with me cares for both me and his older brother who lives alone. He claimed uc in April and was exempt from looking for work and had me down as the person he cared for. I don’t get pip as awaiting appeal (jan) since sept 2017 ! His brother does get pip ( daily living). He had a commitments review with his wc last week and she told him to go online and report a change of circumstances and change it to his brother and come back this week for another commitments review which he did. He now has to go back next month for yet another review and is expected to show proof of looking for work for 35 hours a week and if he doesn’t he will be sanctioned. Is this right ? He doesn’t claim Carers Allowance for his brother as when my pip is sorted he will claim it for me plus it will affect his brothers benefits if he claims it for him. With all the time he spends looking after us two (over 35 hrs each) how can he be expected to do this.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Was it the same advisor? It's not unusual for these to be regularly changed!
If it was then the only thing I can think of is that your younger son did not convince the advisor that he was providing the substantial care for his brother needed for him to avoid being required to job seek.
He can try escalating the problem but ultimately it is at the discretion of his advisor unless he makes a claim for Carers Allowance.

Yes it was the same advisor
My other son is now panicking that he will lose his SDP so my youngest has had to do another change of circumstances back to me. We ticked the box that I wasn’t getting a qualifying benefit but it says if you have applied for one and are waiting to hear tick yes, so if I’m waiting for pip appeal does that apply ? As technically I am waiting. He is also going to claim Carer’s Credit but not sure if he needs too. He is very shy Gordon and just agrees with everything and very compliant so won’t push.

I'm afraid, when they ask whether you are waiting, they mean for a Decision, not an appeal.
