Hi I’m after some advice please for a friend who has cancer and likemia he’s very poorly had right kidney removed and know his left isn’t looking good after scans there scaring and is not taking the strain
He’s been told he has 10 points on pip but they then said no your not getting anything as we feel your health will get better ...he’s actually worse
He’s gone to a Avacate Swan agency in Taunton Somerset who has written a complaint letter
He applied in April it was decinded and he appealed and it come back rejected again this is when I told him about SWAN
He works as a driver but isn’t well enough at moment as he’s feeling very tired and sick and is at doctors hospital appointments , His work has asked him to do a medical as he’s a driver he knows he will fail this as his health isn’t good , he’s very proud man and has worked all his life and is feeling very overwhelmed , if you could give me some advice to pass on I would appreciate that, he has no savings left and a mortgage to pay this situation is putting more pressure on him and this is worrying me so I can’t imagine how it is for him , many thanks in advance you do a great job

There is a legal requirement that the claimant has suffered from their current limitations for at least three months and there needs to be a reasonable expectation that they will persist for a further nine months, does this fit with his prognosis?
He has two options with regard to his PIP claim, he can either make a new claim from scratch n the hope of presenting his problems better or he can appeal the current Decision.
Our PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.
Has he looked at claiming Universal Credit, he can present a Fit Note and be excused from his Claimant Commitment. If he is receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy then he should qualify automatically for the Support Group.
