PIP phone call instead of assessment was created by tessandjoey
My son is switching from DLA to PIP. Yesterday I got a phone call out of the blue from someone who was 'writing a report' for his PIP application (I am his appointee and filled in the PIP form). She asked lots of questions relating to the form. I was taken unawares (no idea this actually happened) and now afterwards I feel very worried that I didn't give the clear answers that I should have given. It was more like a friend having a 'chat' about him.

I feel like I have been tricked by this. I bet she was recording the conversation, and will hold it against me.

She did say at the end the conversation was instead of an assessment.

Having seen the latest news about people with mental health and PIP today on this website, I am extremely worried now that we will get a rejection. My son has diagnosed ASD and ADHD.

Had we been for an assessment, at least I would have been able to prepare for it beforehand. This call was out of the blue, at home.

Has anyone else had a similar call? It really surprised me and now I am very concerned about it. I have read a lot about the PIP process and used the guides, but I have never come across this happening.
Many thanks

It sounds as if they are trying to do a Paper Based Review, this is usually a good thing. They may also be contacting your son's medical contacts.

Gove it a week and then phone the DWP to see if a report has been filed, you should be able to request a copy.
