If you do not already have a Mobility award then one cannot be made once you reach State Retirement Age, even if you meet the criteria.

From your previous post, you are currently be ing reassessed, as you did not initiate the process the Decision will normally apply from the date that it is made, if you have not yet reached SRA then you need to push the process along ideally to have a Decision made before you retire but at least to have an assessment done with the hope of showing that you met the criteria before SRA.

That is very interesting to learn. I am 64 in process of DLA to PIP claim and although previously just middle care this new form clearly shows I am now claiming mobility points as well. Maybe they are reluctant to award points for claimants of our age. By the time my appeal is heard I will be 65 but as the decision for zero was in 2018 when 64 should I be hopeful that being 65 by the time of the appeal won't go against me?

An appeal re-makes the Decision and applies from the same date, so it doesn't matter when an appeal is made if you qualified at the time that the Decision was made then the panel can still make an award.
