Hi
I'm enquiring about the descriptor getting around, planning a journey.
If I still drive will they refuse .I only do two short journeys a week and never on my own.
I have Myalgic encephalitis and fibromyalgia plus borderline personality disorder and anxiety, depression lasting 30 years .
I have never applied before.
These illness affect my whole life and what I can achieve in a day.

Thank you, in advance

It is going to make it difficult for you to score.

Although the "majority of days" applies to all of the PIP activities, the differences between you being unable to go out and your doing so, or your being able to follow a route and not being able to are quite significant and I think it unlikely that those assessing you will believe that you have the required level of disability to meet the criteria.

However, you have nothing to lose by making your arguments, just make sure that you understand and address the criteria, also, undertaking a route is considered to be mutually exclusive from following a route, in other words, you can only argue that you meet one, not both.

Are you using our PIP Claim guide?

Hi Gordon
Thanks for your reply , I see your extremely busy on here , apologies.
I'm really stuck here.I do not drive on my own , and I only go out a couple times a week .
I do not understand the difference I'm afraid undertaking journeys , or following journeys

Ignoring your ability to plan a route, the Going Out activity looks at two other things;

- Your ability to leave your house and undertake a journey, or
- You can leave your house but would be unable to get to a destination because you are unable to follow a route.

When I go out I don't go alone because of how I feel and I need someone to drive me back if I feel unwell

Would that not qualify or am I using the wrong descriptor.

Hi Lisa

Your post caught my eye as I recently had my f2f & award.

I was awarded 14 points - enhanced mobility even though the assessor’s report clearly stated that I can & do drive but it’s to medical appts & sometimes to shops. For the majority of days it would cause me overwhelming anxiety to leave the house & so I spend most of the days in my home.

I have physical & mental health probs including anxiety & BPD & PTSD. It’s definitely worth applying for! Use the guides & make notes so you don’t forget the important issues you need to get across on the day of the f2f.

Good luck! :)
