Mental Health issues and where to go from here

My neice has had mental health issues from a young age but managed a University course then was employed for several years on 3 jobs. Her anxiety and stress has got worse over the years and she is currently being assessed for an autism spectrum disoorder. In a stress meltdown last week she put in her notice at work who accepted it, though she had been put under stress by another member of staff. I want her to get off to the GP for an unfir to work note rather than serve another 2 weeks notice as she is just not coping with her life at the moment never mind her work. Is this the best thing to do please or have you any other suggestions for me as I am her main supporter.

This isn't an area that we advise on and to be honest, I am not entirely sure what it is you are asking. If she is not fit for work and her GP accepts this then they can issue a Fit Note.

What does your daughter want to do?

My neice is so anxious, stressed and confused that she has no clue what she wants to do. She cannot do her job properly now but her decision making skills are so poor that she is just going through the motions of living. You have alrady answered my query Gordon - I will see if she will get an appointment with her GP for a Fit note and some help for her anxiety and depression.
Thank you

If you are saying your family member is unable to work due to mental health issues, then applying for ESA (sickness benefit) would be an option if they were to stop working due to these conditions.

my personal advice would be to see the GP and ask for help, seeing a psychologist and following the doctors advice might hopefully help
