pip advice was created by colin123456
Hi I have received DLA Indefinite for some years at highest Mobility and Standard . I was re examined at a PIP in October and received same awards with 9 points regarding Living Allowance, but they only gave me 18 months award I was frightened to ask for a re consideration because I was told that it was unlikely the award amount of time would be altered. However they are offering a light touch if you have the highest awards on both, and I am so frightened about another medical this would stop going for an exam I wish your advice on this as since I had my pip examination I have developed Tendinitis and find it hard to hold items as I can drop anything at anytime also I am due aTKReplacement in April and then a further one sometime in the future, My arthritis in my neck has since worsened too.We never have received Attendance Allowance and want to ask you, for your expert help
Many thanks

Failing to attend another assessment is going to result in your claim being closed so you need to think very carefully about this.

I'm afraid your reporting a worsening of your conditions is almost certainly going to require a face to face.

An 18 month award should be treated as needing a renewal rather than a reassessment so you will not be contacted until about 13 weeks before your award ends although I would start the process about 4 weeks earlier to ensure it is completed before your award ends. You will receive a new PIP2 form rather than the shorter AR1 Review form.

Hi guys, I have a health assessment coming up at home for pip. I had an esa assessment 3 weeks ago and now I'm being asked to do another one so quickly. I got copies of my previous health assessments and noticed there was a lot of discrepancies in what I said to what was actually reported. Is there a section in this site that gives you pointers as my friend who was with me a few weeks ago said that I was offering too much information which went against me previously. I called to ask why so soon and was told that they are 2 very different benefits so need 2 different assessments. I have chronic conditions such as inflammatory osteoarthritis, had a bad stroke 3 years ago which has left me with lack of power on my left side. Peripheral neuropathy on feet which causes unbalance and pain etc etc.. I felt like a scrounger at my last medical and the questions trying to trip you up constantly. It would be good to get some advice on how to act and what not to say etc.
Thanks guys
Steve

I'm afraid we can't coach you on how to act during the assessment but one approach you might consider is to try and answer in the negative.

Assessors will try and manipulate their questions so that the claimant will say "yes", so as an example; "can you do abc", to which you might answer; "yes, but then I have xyz problems". Turning it around you might answer; "No, I can only do it until xyz problems prevent me from continuing".

The ESA Claim guides have sections that cover the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.
