PIP entitlements for pensioners was created by Tess2012
Hello,
I am writing this on behalf of my mum who is 72 years old. She has worked all her life but had to retire early due to a physical disability. She has been told that she is not entitled to apply for PIP as she is over state pensions age and this is because her physical problem is deemed as ‘natural ageing ‘
This is not the case and I feel it is very unfair she cannot apply? Having seen the newsletter this month on assessments for pensioners on PIP I am wondering if she has been misinformed?

An advice greatly appreciated

Thanks

Tess

I'm afraid the maximum age for making a new claim for PIP is defined in law and is 65 or State Retirement Age, whichever is the later.

She can apply for Attendance Allowance if she meets the criteria. The DLA guides (the criteria is the same) cover this.
