Hi received a date today for my appeal for ESA my question is do I need to write a submission and send it in before the date ?

It's up to you. It is an opportunity to re-present your case and to deal with any outstanding issues from the DWP's one but it needs to be with the Tribunal Service no later than seven days before the hearing.
