Likelihood of Paper-based reassessment? (PIP) was created by pokitoki
Hello. I've been assessed twice since my first claim for PIP in 2015, both involving a face2face at home since i suffer from schizophrenia, social anxiety and agoraphobia, all of which severely impact my ability to communicate to people. Both experiences were incredibly troubling and left me feeling distress i'd not experienced in years.
Since my first application, my needs have not changed at all. But with my reassessment letter coming up soon, the dread of being put to another face 2 face is becoming almost all-consuming.
Are paper based reassessments uncommon generally speaking? Would requesting one at the end of the form have any impact on the decision they'll make if I can tell them how it's affecting me?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Paper Based Reviews are done in around 5% of claims, the rate for reassessments is probably slightly higher. Whilst you can ask for one, one will only be done if you meet the criteria to allow a PBR to be done.
The primary criteria is that a report can be produced from the information that the assessor has, possibly with the addition of information from your GP, secondly, that there would be a substantial risk of harm to you or others if a face to face was done.
You really need your GP to write in support of a PBR, it's very unlikely that one will be granted on your testimony only. If there is a risk of harm then they need to explain this in unambiguous terms and they need to off to provide any additional information that he assessor might require.
