Compliance Telephone Interview was created by Paco Lock
Hello, I am being swapped from DLA to PIP, your website helped me enormously when I filled in the claim form and I had my interview on Friday 21st June. It went well (I thought) but she asked me if my husband, who is my carer, worked more than 16 hours and earned over £X (can't remember how much) to which I said 'Yes'. I've just received a Notice of Compliance Telephone Interview letter, dated June 19th, and I'm terrified we've been getting Carers Allowance for 12 years and we'll have to pay it all back. Originally the CAB helped me fill in the DLA forms and eventually I got the highest rate DLA indefinitely and apart from my condition getting worse over the years (I have Degenerative Disc Disease) nothing, including my husband's working hours, has changed. Are my worst fears about to be realised and can I do anything about it? Kind regards Paco Lock

Hi Paco
Someone is entitled to carers allowance if they can demonstrate that they look after that person for 35 hours a week (day or night), and if they don't earn over £123 hours a week (after deductions). The Compliance Officer will no doubt want to check details of how much your husband works and his ability to care for you.

I recently had notice of a telephone compliance interview which put the fear of god in me.But it turned out to be about something relatively minor which was easily sorted out.And i'm told that that's usually the case with telephone compliance interviews and that if it's something serious they usually call people in for a face to face interview. So try not to worry.

Hello, Can I just check, you said that if my carer doesn't earn over £123 hours per week. Did you mean just £123 per week? My carer does earn considerably more than that, he is, and always has been, in full time employment. He does care for me at least 35 hours per week including nights.
On my original application the CAB knew his earnings but said he qualified.
This is not going to end well for me & we'll probably lose our Motility car won't we?
Can anyone help me? Paco

Hi Paco
Regarding carers allowance, I did mean £123 per week (after deductions). You can read about the eligibility on the government website.
www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/eligibility
Your Motability car is not attached to your carers allowance, so should be unaffected if there were any changes to that.
