DLA to PIP 7 days after ESA support group retained was created by purplecat
Please help. One week after being informed that my ESA review was positive and I could stay in the support group, I got the dreaded letter from DLA asking me to begin the process to apply for PIP. It felt so cruel to let me feel relief for just one week before starting another claim process.
I wrote about my disability, my illnesses and how they affected me in as full a detail as possible to give them an informed clear view.
Now starting the PIP form, I am at a loss what to do. Will the DWP read everything I submitted for the ESA claim or should I include all of it again and then add any additional information as needed? Can anyone advise me please?

Hi Purplecat
Although there may be some overlap you need to treat your PIP application as a completely separate claim and answer each of the questions. Please consult our guide PIP guide, because ESA and PIP are not the same. One is about assessing your fitness to work and the other is about what support you may need for your daily living and although there are some overlaps the questions themselves are not the same. Clearly, you will look at what you wrote for the ESA and where you need to give the same information you will.

If you have a face to face assessment for your PIP claim, the assessor will not have had access to your ESA claim. They are dealt with by two different organisations.
