ESA Income related was created by Lorraine
I have been on ESA. Income related since 2016 in the support group. I have 2 occupational pensions which are both taken into account and my ESA reduced £ for £
My question is can I claim contribution related ESA I’ve worked all my days except for a short period of time in 2009/2011. When I first applied for ESA In 2013 WRAG .I was told I’d not enough contributions
In the year they looked at so I would have to claim income related. Which I have done ever since. Could I have been claiming contributions related during the time I’ve been in support group or would it not have made any difference to me. Financially?
Thanks
Remlas

If you did not meet the Contribution requirements when you applied for ESA in 2013 then you won't be able to meet them now.

For a claim in 2013, you would have needed a minimum of 50 weeks of NI Contributions in the Tax years 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Thank you. Typical I gave up work to care for my 7yr old niece returning to work full time in 2011 until dec 2012 when I became too ill to carry on.
