Thanks Bis,
To be honest I don't understand these activities at all, this one includes chewing and swallowing but no mention of points for difficulty unless you need an aid, unless liquid can be an aid because I couldn't eat a meal without any.
Thanks.

You can and certainly should argue your needing a liquid to help you eat but I think you will struggle to show it is an aid, normally aids need to be specifically designed for the purpose so you would need to show unequivocally that you can only eat with the use of an accompanying liquid and even then I think it will only be an argument that might be accepted at a Tribunal.

Is there a need for supervision in case of chocking?

Thanks Gordon,
I had an op in 2007 and the surgeon said I could need more in 10 years, it is now getting to the point I think I need to go back, I would say it's now once a week I chock, almost every meal I will get pain as the food hasn't gone down, I have to try to force it down by moving up and down and drinking juice, this usually does it but on occasion I can't drink as my oesophagus is blocked.

Moving on I looked and thought I'm going to get 7 points so looked at other activities and realised I ticked ok for getting dressed, when I use a grabber (don't know the real name) for putting my trousers on my prosthesis before I can reach with my hand, will this be an aid and does it matter I never ticked it on the form?

Thanks.

Yes, this should be counted as an aid.

I would write a short letter explaining why you need to use this device, send a copy to the Assessment Provider when they have contacted you and one to the DWP, I would also take a copy to any assessment that you have and ask the assessor to read it and include it your file before they return it to the DWP.

Well this has come quick, had a phone call tonight, the wife answered it and it was dwp, well the wife didn't get the name and said it was on behalf of dwp, they are doing a home visit and will send a letter with the date, when the wife said it was her husband they didn't want to speak to me? Going out for an assessment would be no problem for me so don't know why I'm getting a home visit.

They obviously feel that you would have problems attending at their offices.
