ESA Query was created by Boots281
I have been on DLA indefinite award, I had to go through a Tribunal and two weeks ago I had to have my face to face assessment for PIP I am now awaiting the dreaded envelope with their decision.
I also claim ESA which again I had to go through a Tribunal who overturned their decision to an Indefinite award in the Support Group. Today I received another ESA50 form to fill in.
The stress of going through applying and the face to face for PIP is making my health deteriorate even more (I have a progressive illness and other medical conditions) and now I've got to fill in another ESA50 form. I feel so ill and do not know which way to turn.
Why am I going through all this again and will I have to go through another face to face?
How do I do this again? Any advice you could give me would be really appreciated.

Whilst ESA is an indefinite award it is usual for the DWP to reassess claimants on a regular basis.

It's impossible to say with certainty whether you will have another face to face but it is likely.

Please make use of our ESA Claim guides to help you complete the form

Thank you for your reply I will certainly read the guides.
I am so stressed and have got it into my head that my PIP application will be refused and that's why I've been sent the ESA50 form to really check I am disabled and I will have to fight again through mandatory and Tribunal as I had to for DLA and ESA before. I know it is stupid as I haven't yet heard about the PIP application but it's all the '' hoops we have to jump through '' when we are already ill, I really don't know how much fight I've got in me.
If I contact my GP for a letter/report are they obliged to help me or do I just wait for the assessors to contact my GP?

Hi Karen

When ever renewing PIP or ESA, if your condition has not changed or has deteriorated then mention it on your application form that your condition has not changed or has deteriorated from when you last claimed and send in a copy of your award or appeal.

It would depend on how much your doctor knows you as to whether or not to ask for a support letter. Most doctors will charge for a support letter nowadays but not all. Some of the letters I have seen have been very poor. If you see a consultant ask them to send you a copy of their report that they send to your doctor.

Don't give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel, although the tunnel can at times look very long, let us know how you get on.
