Council tax disability reduction scheme

I receive higher rate PIP for mobility and lower rate care and my disability is permanent. As I can only negotiate stairs by crawling we have converted one of our downstairs reception rooms to be a bedroom for me. We have a downstairs toilet with wash basin that I can use.

Would converting a downstairs room for me to use constitute "a room (other than a bathroom, kitchen or toilet) needed by and mainly used by the disabled person" thereby entitling us to reduced Council tax.

I can't seem to find much information regarding how this reduction works and would be grateful for any advice.

I'm sorry but we do not deal with Council Tax on the forum, you need to get local advice. Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.
