Well latest update after multiple calls to Capita is that the second assessor also claimed to be unable to find my home despite the detailed instructions I sent and photo of my property I also supplied after the 1st assessor couldn't find me.
CAPITA have confirmed the instructions and photo were attached to the 2nd Assessors case file. The 2nd Assessor also claim to have phoned me on the day to get better directions and claim they left a message on my answerphone. This is clearly untrue as my phone records show.
CAPITA said they were unable to reach the 2nd Assessor when they tried to call them twice during my appt slot, and they have also confirmed that the Assessor did not update the system within 24 hours of failing to turn up as they are required to do.
I have been refused a paper based assessment as they say a face to face will be quicker and more efficient !!!!
New appointment is not until 12th September. I asked what would happen if the 3rd assessor also claimed to be unable to find my property which is on a main A road and despite the instructions/photo. Told all they can do is ensure the detailed instructions/photo are attached to the file. No-one else has ever had a problem finding our home in the 19 years we have lived here.
This saga with Capita could seemingly could go on for years.
I am going to lodge a formal complaint and submit my phone records to back up that the Assessors are not telling the truth, not sure what else I can do.

Hi Jennywren
I am sorry. It was worth a go for the paper-based review. I would make sure that you include that in your complaint. The idea that's it's more efficient to have face to face is just poppycock as many people would testify to. So are they saying if someone has a paper-based review that it is not a 'proper review' - they wouldn't dare. In my experience, it takes no longer - but there you are.
I am sorry that you still have so long to wait and I hope you are dealing with the stress of it all as well as you can.
Make sure when you put in your complaint to Capita you also send one to the DWP. After all, the DWP are ultimately responsible for what Capita does, and you want to make sure that it is on your records.

Thanks BIS your support is much appreciated at this stressful time.
Apparently f2f are also more accurate
because if they did a paper based it could take a couple of months while they apply for more medical evidence.
Why would they need to I have attached 27 detailed medical reports. Yes but the Assessor needs to understand how your condition affects you, but I thought you said they had read my claim I have over 25 different conditions and have explained in detail how each of these affect my ability to do each descriptor that is why my claim is over 200 pages long .......... or did I waste my time doing the form, well the assessors prefer to form their own opinion.
You couldn't make it up.

Hi Jennywren
Sadly I think they make up some of these things as they go along. I know someone who had a paper-based review with only two medical reports and 70 pages of evidence and they never contacted the GP or hospital consultants and it was done in the same time frame - 6 weeks start to finish.
Might also be worth dropping a line to your MP, because that reasoning for not doing one iin my view doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Jennywren,
I’m so sorry to hear of the appalling treatment you’ve received. The nonsense Capita have told you about their reasons for preferring a f2f only compound an awful situation.
I spoke with someone at Maximus who, in a rare moment of candour, told me they prefer f2f because they can do 6-8 assessments a day whereas a home visit limits them to two. There is no financial incentive for them.
I second the suggestion BIS made to involve your local MP. My hubby and I met with ours yesterday at his surgery. While his case worker deals with bureaucratic issues, it felt good to sit down and explain how and why the DWP are a bunch of ratbags. I think having your MP on side adds a bit of leverage and maybe a tad more accountability. It can’t hurt.
My best to you x
