ESA disabled premium

ESA disabled premium was created by southy1
Hi I've been awarded pip enhanced on both
I'm in the support group of ESA and my rate has gone up do I tell the council as I'm on Hb and council tax I've turned 65 in July but won't get my pension till next year

They may already know but I would still contact your Local Authority.

Here in the North East, the council is always made aware of the award, in fact, it is almost always the council that alerts us to the decision, beating the DWP to it.

That doesn't remove the requirement on the claimant to make sure that all agencies are informed of any changes.

Ah no, I wasn't suggesting Southy or anyone else shouldn't bother contacting the council or any other agency who needs to know of a change of circumstances, sorry if it came across that way, I was just saying we have never had to contact the council as they are usually aware of our awards before we've even received notification from the DWP.

Hi Southy1

You should always inform your local authority of any changes in your benefits, even though LA's are usually informed by DWP via Atlas on a daily basis, depending on your circumstances you maybe eligible for additional premiums.

Depending on your circumstances you maybe eligible to claim Pension Credit when you get your state pension, The earliest you can start your application is 4 months before you reach State Pension age.
