PIP assessment IAS complaint

PIP assessment IAS complaint was created by MyHipsHurt
I have received an apology from IAS via my MP regarding my complaint of of how my PIP assessment was conducted and the subsequent flawed report. IAS has agreed that the assessor's report was not up to standard and can't be relied upon.

IAS is asking that I attend another assessment. They have offered me one at home. I don't want another assessment due to my fragile mental health. I certainly can't cope with one at home. It's my safe space and I will not allow a stranger into my home. My feeling is that if they actually understood my mental health issues, they would not have suggested this!

I have more medical evidence gathered from specialist appointments since the assessment that I have already sent to the DWP. Couldn't they just do a paper based assessment now?

One of the main areas of complaint was the assessor's deeply insensitive questioning of my mental health, they have apologised for this.

So what do I do now? I've nearly completed my MR paperwork. Do I just send this off to the DWP and trust that they will do a thorough paper based assessment. Will my refusal of another assessment go against me?

This is PIP renewal by the way.

The DWP have made a Decision on your claim so there is no legal requirement for you to undertake another assessment unless the DWP withdraw that Decision.

That said a new assessment might provide you with valuable evidence, of course, the report might be no better than the first one.

Thank you Gordon.

Sorry I'm not thinking straight, so does that mean I can continue with the MR on the first report?

Yes, if that is what you want to do.
