WCA was created by Jensutty
Good afternoon,
I am back again to ask some questions (apologies if repeating myself but I get a bit confused trying to get to grips with the system!).
I now have a date through for my WCA. It will be on the 12th September.
I understand there are three possible outcomes;
Fit to work
LCW
LCWRA
I am also of the understanding that as I have never claimed before, I will not receive anything unless I am placed in the LCWRA group?
If they declare me LCW or god forbid fit for work (lord knows how but you never know!) then is it correct that I will get no money at all in addition to my current UC (which is a pittance of approx £100 monthly for CTC/WTC)?
I don’t know how I will survive if I get placed in the LCW and get nothing. I’ve been out of work since May! Surely being signed off forced to lose my job because of my health means I would be entitled to something?
My second question relates to the timescales. How soon after attending the assessment do you tend to find out if you have been successful? (I live in Lancashire)
Thank you
Kind Regards
Jenny

Hi Jenny
You are correct in your understanding, there are no additional premiums unless you are put in the LCWRA group.
If you are found Fit for work or LCW then you will need to comply with your claimant commitment if you do not then you will be sanctioned. You can request a mandatory reconsideration if you disagree with the decision, this has to be done via your journal and if that goes against you, then appeal. Keep your work coach informed as they may make allowances for you in regards to your claimant commitment, if you can get a med 3 certificate from your doctor then scan it in on your journal.
You would be entitled to UC single standard allowance/couple standard allowance and child element if you have children, you would also be entitled to housing element, if your pay rent to either a private or a social landlord.
Check out Turn2us benefit calculator www.turn2us.org.uk it is quite accurate.
A decision should be 2-6 weeks, keep an eye on your journal.
