Confused about wether a Pip face to face required. was created by Poollie1
Hi all, hope someone can shine some light on this query for me. We've always thought our grandson was autistic from a very young child, despite all assessments over the years he was never diagnosed until March of this year age 15. We waited until April until he reached 16 and could claim pip in his own name, hopefully expecting him to trust us in showing him to take some responsibility. Anyway forms were filled and all reports sent to the HCP. Usual text messages were received by him explaining they had received them and he may need to attend a face to face. Heard nothing since until Friday when he received a text from DWP saying they had received all reports required and would now make a decision. Firstly does this mean he won't need to go for a face to face? And secondly is this good or bad regarding a positive outcome in his favour. Thankyou in advance.

Hi P Oliveer
I'm afraid cannot give you a definitive answer here. It sounds as if he's not going to have a face to face and it probably isn't unreasonable to think they are going to give some type of award. But until you get that letter it is impossible to say and whether you will look upon whatever they award as positive depends on what you expect. I know it's awful but you just have to wait.

Thankyou Bis for your reply. I actually thought the same as you to be honest. Just one more thing will the HCP have written a report and returned it to DWP? And if so will he be able to request a copy? Thankyou again.

Thanks again Bis. Not the same subject but my son in law is a very sick man and been refused pip with no points, received his decision letter and immediately telephoned them, he was put through to a manager, who replied I don't understand this decision as you are clearly a very ill man. She said give me a hour and I'll ring you back, she did and explained I have spoken to your GP and consultants and this decision clearly needs looking into. My question is does he still need to put mandertory reconsideration in? Or will DWP automatically do one? Thanks again for any advice.

Hi P Oliveer
However nice someone is over the phone, I would never trust them and therefore I would put in for an MR anyway. If they come back before it is processed with an award you may have wasted a little time, but if they don't you get it underway as soon as possible.
