Hi, I'm hoping you can help me with this form. Looks like I could get some top-up ESA for a previous 2-year period. But, a)the amount I had in savings during the period is crucial, and they ask for the figure I had in my current account. Luckily I have all the relevant bank statements but ,naturally ,they show quite a variation; from a few hundred to a few thousand. There's only room for one figure so, how do I decide which figure to put down?
b)there was a period of just a few days during which the total of all monies went above £5500, which was when my landlord ( who lives abroad)sent me the money to pay for repairs on the property which I rent off him. So i don't think of this as "savings". Do I need to mention this on the form? Many thanks in advance if you can help me.
As long as your total assets and savings have remained below £6000 then you should be able to state this without providing any more information but if you do need to then just detail your savings on a separate sheet and attach it to the ESA3.
The payment from your landlord should not be treated as savings but you may need documentation to support this and also receipts for the repair work. I would include the information to avoid it being raised by the DWP.
