Second pip assessment on phone was created by Sammylou40
So last week I spent two hours at a pip assessment and to say I was completely finished when it was done is an understatement!
I was asked if I wanted to do the physical assessment or not so obviously I said no. Most of it’s irrelevant in my opinion and I wasn’t up to it anyway at that point.
This morning I got a call at 8.30 from the same assessor saying she had been instructed to ask more questions.
She spent an hour asking more and more pointless questions about shopping mostly. Can I walk the length of a bus, a supermarket aisle. Etc. Can I do my own shopping if there was a chair at the end of each aisle. It’s a mute point though. There are no chairs at the end of aisles!!!!
It really felt like an exercise in proving my abilities
I kept stressing that any distance causes me pain and that as I don’t do it anyway it’s not relevant.
She was very vague with anything I asked. For example I asked what sort of medical professional she was and she said she was a pip assessor. Hmm.
I had asked for the assessment to be recorded but that didn’t happen either. She was pleasant enough but I do not trust her one inch.
Is this sort of thing normal? What on Earth is going on?

Hi Sammlou40

It sounds like she's been told there isn't enough information in her report for the decision-maker. This is not unheard of and yes, occasionally the assessors do have to follow up after an assessment.

I'm not quite sure why the assessor wouldn't tell you what her profession is. Most of them are very open about it.

As for you asking for the assessment to be recorded. That was never going to happen. If you wanted it to be recorded, it is up to the claimant to arrange it - not the assessor. That information should have been in the guidance you were sent to help you fill out your form.

Your report is clearly not completed yet. I would leave it a couple of days and then ring the DWP and request a copy.
