Hi, I applied under non-automatic eligible rules. I have Enhanced PIP - d) With another person.

I have Bipolar disorder, anxiety and back pain (only 4 in mobility).
My 7 yr old son has Autism, but only lower care because he can walk.

I was turned down because I would be able to walk from the car to destination (within 200 m). Doesn't include actually getting up and going out in the first place because of distress with not being able to parking close (both because of being overwhelmed in car parks, and my son being overwhelmed too). We've both got so distressed we have to give up and go home.
The response I got was:

"To qualify under this criteria an applicant must have evidenced that they have an enduring and substantial disability which causes them, during the course of a journey, to be unable to walk, experience very considerable difficulty whilst walking, which may include very considerable psychological distress or be at risk of serious harm when walking; or pose, when walking, a risk of serious harm to any other person. "

Is this right? Anxiety and distress cause me problems about parking / not going out for worry about it. I'd have thought that would have been a factor for restrictions to services/places that others would have. However, it just seems to reference the walk from car to place. This is a moot point if I can't go there in the first place.

Any advice?

It looks like your application was made under the "old" rules, it would be worth your contacting your Local Authority to look at the Decision again based on the "new" ones.
