PIp Form - to write in Bullet Points or Paragraphs

Hi

I’m transitioning from DLA at present and trying to complete my first PIP form, and struggling with how to fill it in. Whilst bullet points are clearer, I can bullet point ie ......’ I cannot stand to prep or cook due to severe pain from L4 nerve damage’ , well at least I don’t seem able to bullet point everything like that and feel I’m not giving enough information. Or would that one line, backed up by medical letters be enough to score say the 8 points?

Hi Fresia

It's impossible to advise you exactly how much to write. It won't matter whether you use bullets or paragraphs as long as you make it clear the difficulties you have against the PIP criteria. Do have a look at our guide. You can download it

or you can look at it online

Just be aware that if you write a single sentence as you have done below, you probably wouldn't score the points you are hoping for simply because you have said you cannot stand to prepare or cook a meal. They could easily say you could prepare a meal from a sitting position - so make sure that you cover all bases. Also be wary of just saying you have L4 nerve damage. The person reading it may not immediately know that is in the vertebra in your back. You don't have to put a long explanation - just make it clear.
