Help on UC and sickness please. was created by TracyS123
I wonder if someone might point me in the right direction. I seem to be in a muddle here, I have just been moved from Tax credits to UC, before I was able to buy and sell things for small amounts of money and working tax would top us up, but now on UC I cant. I was only able to do these things on 'good days' of which there were few but it gave me something to take my mind off things. Now I have a sick note for my Dr for 56 days. I am bipolar, but have not had any signs of mania for months, the Dr cited anxiety and depression.
My wee girl is 11 and profoundly disabled, her dad and I take turns sleeping in her room as she smears in the nighttime ( I hope you will all have an idea of what this is ) this means one of us is always shattered or sleeping. My depression is causing my partner to care for me too, I hate it, I know I am a burden, I feel hopeless. They would be better off without me, but no worries I wouldn't do that to them, I couldn't but god I would love to.
We moved 4 weeks ago now, hence the chance from tax credits to UC, my sick note is from my old Dr as I cant see one here because they have a 3 week waiting list, I asked the old surgery if I could stay with them but they said no. I don't know what t do.
This morning I received something called a Health Assessment Advisory Service ...its a questionaire I need to fill in and send back, I don't know where to start. Can anyone tell e where I can read something here that might help. I would be so grateful.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
You have received a UC50, this is the standard form for claimants unable to work due to illness or disability, our ESA/UC Claim guide explains the criteria and helps you to explain your problems against the UC Descriptors that you are being assessed against, see
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
If you have any specific questions then please return to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Tracy, using the guides on this site I managed to fill in my UC50 by myself. A few weeks later I received a message via my Universal Credit account (online) that I had been found to have limited capability for work and work related activity without having to attend a face to face assessment. This was a huge relief and I hope you will have the same experience.
