PIP form 2 week extension given without asking.

I have received a 2 week extension to return my PIP form without asking for it, is this normal?

I am being migrated from a DLA indefinite award to PIP and have metal health issues. I am grateful that I have received the extension as I am really struggling to complete it within the original time given.

Be interested to know if this has happened to anyone else.
Thanks.

Hi Natalie

Yes, other members have reported receiving an extension without requesting it.

Thanks BIS, good to know others have got this too.

I wonder what the criteria for this automatic extension is, as I've read others having to request it. Just interested in their procedures generally as I've had so many issues with shocking DWP errors over the years.

You have to be considered to be at risk of being unable to complete the form, this can be because you told them that you have one of a number of conditions when you made your claim or it could be that you are already flagged on their computer system as being vulnerable.

I was told that extensions are automatic now Gordon if the paperwork isn't received within a certain. Whether the advisor was being accurate I don't know, she was adamant.

I would certainly take no chances unless the extension is in writing.

Thanks Gordon, Remix.

I do have a history of risk and harm due to mental health issues, and this was part my DLA award, so the extension is probably due to being vulnerable. I received my extension in writing and it was issued 19 days after the PIP2 form.

I'm using the excellent member guides to help me fill out the form, and have good support from my GP. However it is a very stressful process and it is significantly impacting my mental health.
