Hi everyone, when requesting your face-to-face being recorded do you have to give a certain amount of notice? The lady from my housing association is poorly and should have been accompanying me at my face to face on Tuesday in my home, so it is just going to be me on my own and I hear all these horror stories of the assessor writing down completely different things to what you say. I know we need permission to record and need two of the same or a double . do have a recorder that I bought ages ago from Amazon and they still sell those so I could buy a duplicate and two cassettes. Is it too late to ask for my appointment to be recorded as it is only 4 days away? Also so do they ask you why you want to record the interview? I can hardly say that I feel the assessor may write down lies!

Hi Rebecca
You have to give them 48 hrs notice - so you need to ring them now. You don't have to give a reason why you want to record. Make sure you do not unwrap the cassettes until the assessor is there - so they know they have not been tampered with.

Just wondering: where, if anywhere, on the high street can you still buy cassette tapes?
An alternative, should you need it, might be if someone else (ideally independent) can sit with you and take notes.

When I had my home assessment I recorded it and never said anything to them, it's my house and they enter on my terms, my house cameras record all the time.

Claimants need to be very careful with this, if you are found to be recording without permission then it can lead to the assessment being terminated and the claimant classed as failing to comply.

Argos sell C60 (30 minutes each side) cassette tapes or they are available online. I bought some from ebay.
