What to do? was created by Ultravox
Hi All,
Don't want to go on Universal Credit before I absolutely need to/have to.
Had my DLA to PIP assessment on 9/10 and got a notice to quit Mums house on 14/10 which expires 18/11 (rent week starts on a Monday) then the Counci has said I go onto "use and occupation fees" until I find a suitable property (I am now on Housing register and Council has been made aware in writing. of my Mental and Physical health issues by my GP and Psychiatrist) and the need for over 55's accomodation
Anyway further to my waffling, always assuming I get an award for PIP, would it be worth me waiting until I hear about my decision and if I get an award then apply for Severe Disability Premium and then I would be able to apply for Housing Benefit as opposed to Universal Credit? I have enough money to cover the use and occupation fees for a while if needs be.
Kind Regards,
Rob.

Hi Rob100
The first thing you need to do is seek help from Shelter in regards to your housing entitlement , their helpline Helpline 0808 800 4444 is open every day of the year:
8am - 8pm on weekdays
9am - 5pm on weekends
To be eligible for a SDP you have to meet the qualifying conditions see the following web site:
www.gov.uk/disability-premiums-income-support/eligibility
Do we take it from your post that you are in receipt of DLA?
We don't have enough information to give you any advice there is lots of gaps in the information you have provided, you need to seek independent welfare benefits advice, we suggest you contact Scope's Disabilty Information and Advice Line (DIAL) on Freephone 0808 800 3333.
