DLA to PIP and hearing loss was created by poppeyred
Hi Bis, Following on from my last posting, a Mandatory Reconsideration decision was made just over a week after my request by phone. I don't think they even gave enough time to receive the additional information and letter that I rushed to send them. I didn't expect it to be this quick.
I know there is a low success rate with Mandatory reconsiderations so was not surprised that the decision has remained the same. I was awarded 2 extra points for preparing a meal but the standard care award remains.
They have not taken any notice of the Audiology report I sent. They have acknowledge that I am profoundly deaf in one ear with a moderate hearing loss in the other. But are taking the assessors advice that I have no problem with communication, socialising and going out because I coped well with the assessment and according to them I have no problem hearing which is absolutely ridiculous. I complained to them about the inaccuracies in the report and they said if I'm not happy to complain to IAS.
So it seems the only way to get justice is to go to the tribunal.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi Eleni
I'm sorry, but not surprised. There is a far greater chance of success at a tribunal, but obviously you will have to wait a long time for it to take place.
Have a look at the Guide to PIP appeals to tell you how to go about it.
