ex a, support group. was created by CAW
My son is disabled after an accident. He has (with your help) maintained his PIP allowance, after migrating from DLA. He is in the support group of ESA and has a small pension of about 300 pounds per month from work. It has been about 20 years and after reading your guides I am worried that it should have been declared at the outset. I handle his business and I can honestly say, hand on heart, I csnnot remember this being mentioned or asked for in the forms.

Yes, it needs to be declared.
If he is receiving any Income Related ESA then the pension would be deducted £ for £ and there is, therefore, the possibility of a significant overpayment.
If he is receiving Contribution Based ESA then the pension can affect his payment but there is an £85/week disregard which his current pension would appear to be under.
If he was on Incapacity Benefit prior to ESA, then it is possible that his pension is disregarded for the purposes of ESA(CB) but not ESA(IR).

Thank you, it has always been (as far as I know) , CB, based and in the support group. I shall try to have a look, difficult though as, due to head injuries etc.,, He can be very disorganized and reluctant to let anyone look at his papers. Although I think I can remember that his occupational pension is very low and below 85 pounds
