Help please. MR and Drs letter was created by KittyBoo
Hi
I have had a face to face assessment and recently received my award. Moved down from Higher rate mobility and care. Before I got the brown envelope, I rang DWP as I'd not heard anything and I asked if they had requested and received a letter from my GP. I was told they had all the evidence they needed. I am new to this and naively believed them.I checked with my surgery and no request was made.
I am now going to go to my local Unemployed and Benefits work advice centre, who have told me to get a letter of support from my GP to send with Mandatory Reconsideration. I've contacted the surgery regarding this but they said it could take 4 weeks, which will be too late.
I now realise that I should have got this Drs report when I submitted my PIP claim but I don't know what to do and now getting myself in a state. Any kind advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi KittyBoo

I'm sorry this has happened to you. The DWP rarely contact GPs for information. I don't know who you asked at your surgery, but I would download from the members area GP notes, make an appointment to see your doctor and see if they would be willing to give you something instantly. Explaining to someone face to face that four weeks is too long to wait. Obviously you can only do this if you have a good relationship with your HP - but it's worth a go.

Have you also got your assessment report? If you have you need to go through this and make sure that you understand why your award has been downgraded. If you haven't then you need to request it over the telephone and then also request it in writing. You will struggle to write your MR without it.

If you have more ideas of what the specific issues are then come back and ask any questions as necessary.
