Renewal of Pip over age 66 was created by lizzie23
Sorry to bother you but really need some help if you are able please. My review is due in April 2021. However renewal of my car is due in October 2020. I was awarded basic care and full mobility indefinately on dla but 4 years on Pip. I did not complain as afraid and notvwell enough to argue. However as renewal of my car is due before 2021 i rang DWP to ascertain whether i would have the ongoing award now that will be 66 and the relevant paperwork in order to renew the car, The lady I spoke to said that it was not definate and only when the assessor decided which could mean an assessment. I quoted what Amber Rudd had promised that pensioners would not have to go through an assessment but she just said that it wasn't law yet and I would have to wait and see! This is extremely upsetting as I have read on your pages that people have been moved to ongoing awards. Any idea how I can find out as it has made me sick with worry at the thought of been assessed again. Many thanks Lizzie

The first thing for you to do is to contact Motability, it should be possible for you to take out a new lease as long as you have at least a year remaining on your award.
The DWP appear to be contacting claimants a couple of months in advance of their current award being reassessed, so currently, maybe eight months before it ends.
Two things to be aware of;
- The staff in the call centre are probably not going to be able to answer your questions, they just don't have access to the information to help.
- Secondly, this is an operational change, not a legislative one, so you are dependant on the DWP revising the current award, you cannot insist on it.

Thank you for your reply, and I did contact mobility as suggested. However I would be interested to know when they are going to implement Amber Rudds promise that pensioners will no longer have to undertake assessments? She made this speech in March and it is now October. I would be interested to know if anyone whose review was due recently has had to undergo an assesment?

Thank you for your advice I contacted mobility as suggested. However do you know of anyone who is now over 65 has had letter advising that their awards have been extended to 10 years without a review as promised by Amber Rudd? Many thanks Lizzie
