PIP application - Have I put in too much info. was created by HappyUnwell
Hello,
I’ve gone through your great lengthy PIP guide and for each PIP activity I have detailed what my son (I’m his appointee Carer) can’t do, how much I need to help him and then referenced each point to the correct medical note as evidence. I’ve used your guide as a frame to create my responses to each activity. Each activity has a very long detailed response which in total means I’m attaching many of pages to the whole PIP application.
My question are...
- Should I make this application short and sweat? I’ve been advised by someone else that handing in a detail lengthy application means that the PIP application person reading it will simply skim over it and would likely miss the main point for each activity. However each of my points for each activity simply add more things he can’t do, why and the medical evidence that backs up each statement.
- I’ve also been advised that I should rephrase my response to state he “needs help with” rather than me stating that “I help him with” that.
What do you think? What is your thoughts, advice & why?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi D
I have known someone get their PIP award with only one piece of evidence and I have known someone else get their PIP with more than 300 additional pages of evidence and various numbers in between. How much should you send? I think you have to send as much as feels right for you and your son. To reference your medical evidence throughout your responses is a good idea.
Whether you should say 'he needs help" rather than "I help' - will make no difference to what the award decision will be. Some people would do it the first way and some would do it the second. Only change it if you think it feels better for you. It's not an exam and no one is going to think you did it incorrectly whichever you choose.

Thank you loads BIS fir your informed reply. I'm so relieved that I don't need to cut it all down and rephrase everything. You are doing a fantastic job with your website.
