I assume you are trying to claim New Style ESA and you are phoning 0800 328 5644 (choose option 2).
There is a report on RightsNet, the Welfare Rights forum, of long delays on the claim lines and also the phone cutting off.
There is no other phone number that you can call.
As an alternative, you can download and print a copy of the NSESA1 and then send It to your local JC+ office, this should result in a phone call to confirm your identity.
