HI
in the medical report, the HP says first-line antidepressant medication
& this is used several times for justification of descriptor
when in fact my friend is on the maximum dose for that medication
given that the HP is wrong how should i word it in the MR support letter ?

Just state the facts but don't lose track of your making sure that you explain how your friend makes meets the PIP Descriptors.

There was a discussion in Rightsnet about this same thing and they said "The British National Formulary ( BNF) does not classify anti- depressants as 1st line or any other line."

Hi Dixip

All 'first line' means in this context is they are examples of the first type of drugs chosen to treat depression. (It's not about the dosage). You can see this from the BNF. It's about halfway down the page.

As Gordon has said, the important thing is to concentrate on how your friend meets the criteria.
