Housing benefit increase due to Coronavirus was created by Kimbychick
Hi there,
I am unsure whether anyone here would be able to able to answer my question but I can't get any answers from the DWP or local council.
I have heard alot about the LHA rates being increased to the 30th percentile. Although I havent had any change in my housing benefit which was paid today.
I checked the Goverment timetable of LHA rates for my area Greater Glasgow. The weekly rate for a 3 bedroom house is £172 although I am only receiving £139. I rent privately and my monthly rent is £800.
Could anyone tell me if I am entitled to the increase please?
Can I just add that I am a single mum of 3 and recieve PIP standard daily living and mobility so I am sure the benefit cap doesn't apply to me.
Many thanks

Hi Kim,
My landlord increased my monthly rent last month and my housing benefit went up accordingly. I'm in London, but it's the same here: the LHA went up early April and my new HB amount reflects that. I'd advise you to chase it up with Glasgow City Council. You can use the form on this page to contact them with a HB enquiry:
www.glasgow.gov.uk/hbcontact?formid=158869#form
Best of luck

Thank you so much for your help that is ao good of you.
I have actually already sent them a message through the link you sent me nearly 4 weeks ago with no response. I sent another 2 weeks ago and still no response. They aren't taking calls either.
I am hoping that maybe they are just a bit behind and it might be backdated but I have heard that housing benefit can only be backdated 1 month.
Anyway thanks once again I can't think how I will get the answers I need but I really appreciate your time x

Hi,
I didn't know that sorry. I have been a member for years as I have a disability and get PIP and severe disability premium. Now that you have told me I realise I haven't seen any questions about housing benefit.
Thanks so much for the link for shelter scotland I will give it a go.
