Appeal PIP Offer was created by bubbles
Hi,
I submitted a PIP Appeal on 15.02.20, on 23.04.20 a Decision Maker called me and made an offer of Standard Rate for Care and Mobility. I accepted the offer but was told I could appeal it if I was not happy.
I have chosen to appeal the decision and when I tried to submit the new appeal online the form needs the date of my Mandatory Reconsideration Notice. The MRN is dated 15.01.20, when I put this date in the form I get a message stating that I've missed the deadline for appeal so it won't let me continue. So, can I put 23.04.20 as the date as that is the date of the decision I am appealing?
Kind Regards

Further to my last message, I have looked at the Appeal website again, and there is an option to submit an appeal without a MRN and to explain why I don't have an MRN
I have now submitted the appeal using the 23.04.20 as the date of MRN but I don't know if this was the right thing to do?
Should I resubmit using one of the other methods or will it still be processed correctly?
Kind Regards

An appeal can be submitted up to 13 months after the date of the MR Notice but once you go outside of a month you need to provide reasons why the appeal is Late.
I don't have first-hand knowledge of the system that you are using but submitting the appeal with the wrong date for the MRN risks is being struck out so I would withdraw it and re-submit using the system that does not require an MRN, you can then explain what is happening and provide the correct date for the MRN.
As an aside, has the revised Decision been put into payment? If not then I would hold off requesting the new appeal until it is as the DWP may withdraw the offer if they know that you are still going to appeal.

Thank you so much for your response,
Yes the decision has been put into payment - it was actually processed about a week after the phone call.
I am using the online Appeal A Benefit Decision Service and I have now submitted the appeal stating my reason for not having the MRN and will contact the Tribunal service to withdraw my original appeal on Monday.
Thank you
