ESA Support Group after state pension age was created by Noel Tourmentin
Hi
I'm in the ESA support group and also a carer for my daughter. I've had a letter telling me that I no longer qualify for ESA and carer's allowance due to my state pension age which will be in December.
Is this true as I still have to care for my daughter? I'm very worried about this and feel very depressed not knowing what to do.
Please help. Thanks
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Yes, I am afraid this is correct.
You will no longer be considered as being of Working Age when you reach State Retirement Age and ESA is a WA benefit so it will no longer be payable.
Carers Allowance is an overlapping benefit with the State Pension, this means that only the benefit that pays the most will actually be paid usually he Pension. You retain an underlying entitlement to the CA, so if you are able to claim Pension Credit then a Carers Element can be paid as part of the PC. See
