I hope it's ok to post in your thread roadrunner? I've just been invited to migrate over to UC and your posts interested me.

My P60U also says 'ESA500' so that means I am receiving both contribution based AND income related ESA currently then?

If that is so, I'm guessing I'll also be moved over to both the news style CB ESA whilst also claiming UC? How odd.

From a purely practical standpoint, does that make any difference to how I should approach my UC claim? I am also in the SG for ESA.

Thanks all.

Hi Boomer

I think you should take advice from Help to Claim run by Citizens Advice. Their phone number is on page 2 of your Migration letter. Here are a couple of recommentations-

Hi Boomer, as David has pointed out Citizens Advice is recommended. You can contact them at any point, and they will advise you every step to your first payment. So if any niggles came up you got your back covered. It does not matter practically regarding the form as DWP will do what they do. I am now going to be paid by DWP for two benefits - ESA new style and UC. What this means in practice for you is the UC will be paid 5 weeks from the date you submit then every month on the same date. Your ESA new style will carry on every 2 weeks. The amount you get in ESA is deducted from the full amount of UC you are entitled to before ESA is considered. If you were getting contribution based ESA and an ESA income related only, the income related will stop after 2 weeks. The contribution part of ESA is the standard rate(over/under 25) plus the support element. The income related part of ESA was the disability add on. This part is now part of UC. There is an excellent guide on this website to read regarding the form, so take your time and make sure you got the bits you need. Its pretty straightforward and citizens advice can help you. Hope this helps.

Hi,
The letter I received to notify me about being on New Style ESA and needing to do a claimant commitmnent in which they will be in touch regarding appointment, well 2 weeks has passed since the date of the letter. I have had the correct ESA payment right on the 2 week mark and my first UC payment.

1. Should I be worried about not yet receiving an appointment, as they said it is needed to continue to receive the ESA.
2. Should I inform now knowing i'm on the new syle ESA, my work pension amount to this ESA staff. I had already informed the UC in my journal weeks ago. Will they deduct twice now? I'm not state pension age yet.

Thank you
